Adele Davies
Adele’s having a hard time of it, that’s for sure. She’s on the outs with her family and her employer, Triune, for pretty much the same reasons — neither or family nor Triune have figured out that Adele is not the type of person that responds well to a structured, heavily regulated life. Stuck on an unpaid probation with Triune for over a year, Adele was forced to shack up with her sister, Cassie, with whom she definitely does not get along. It was during one of her last official Triune missions, an exorcism that quickly spiralled out of control, that Adele met Maddie, a teenage runaway.
Where Book 2 picks up, Adele has been freelancing without Triune’s permission, dragging Maddie along with her.

Madeline Leowens
Maddie is Adele’s partner, though Adele would probably never admit to needing her for anything. She is a witch. As opposed to Adele’s powers, which offer very direct and showy results, Maddie’s magic is much more subtle. She views magic in general in a very romanticized light, and is constantly amazed (and somewhat intimidated) by the feats which Adele performs so effortlessly.
Maddie comes from a very closely-knit family and has not yet revealed the reason she left home at sixteen.
