I’ve been working on this on and off for awhile, and finally declared it finished tonight. It’s nothing special story-wise, just Mir playing with some magic spirits. I-I-I’ve never done this before, but I’m also putting it up here as a wallpaper! So if anyone actually likes this comic/picture enough to want to cover your desktop with it, here’s your chance! (It’s a bit cropped though, since most monitors are not squares. Oops! Next time I’ll keep that in mind…)

Weathering the Weather
Just a heads up to say that there will probably be an update on Friday, but it’s not for sure. We had a fairly nasty storm last night and a tree fell on the power lines to our house (but thankfully it just missed my car, and the house is alright except for some fallen trim). We don’t know when we’ll have power back, but I guess that’s what coffee shops and friend’s houses are for. I might have to rock things old school and draw by candle light, but I’ll try!
Memetic Interlude
I was getting ready for Katsucon all week, and had planned this to be a week of delicious but non-nutritional filler. However, thanks to the 50 foot thick blanket of snow currently covering the mid-Atlantic, I am not at Katsucon. Therefore, I have a week of wasted preparations, and also no comic*. So, I guess nothing’s changed.
I do a lot of doodles and memes with these characters, and they usually just end up on Deviantart where they belong. UNTIL NOW. Sorry if anyone’s already seen these. (Also readers should probably stay away from my DA account because I do upload some spoilerish stuff once and awhile. Although really it’s mostly just terrible fanart for video games and 30 year old anime.)
*I mean I guess I could upload that god-awful portrait of Leader Desslok that I framed, but it seems off-topic.
Let’s start this New Year off right!…?
I am currently stranded in Western Pennsylvania, which is not quite awesome. Well, ok, stranded is not the right word, but we missed the only train back to New York. Thank you, cab company which never showed up!
I don’t have any drawing stuff or scanner access, but luckily I do have my laptop and tablet, so I’ve been finally finishing up some of those older unfinished pages, and also correcting some of the atrocities that I committed against art. So that’s good! I’ll probably have a couple more old pages fully toned by the time I get home.

Holidays and Posts!
I’ll have a little holiday* special up later, either today or Saturday, but I don’t think I’ll be updating next week…because next Friday is Christmas and I’m already going nuts trying to get presents ready for people, dealing with holiday business at work, and family stuff.
You know what doesn’t help? Chronic insomnia. :C Anyone got any advice for sleeping better? I sure could use it.
*I really mean Christmas, even though it’s not exactly something my characters would celebrate in the context of their world and makes no sense but WHATEVS.

Update Change!
My work schedule has changed lately (I used to work the evening shift, now I’m a day time worker!) which changes when I have time to draw. From here on out (unless it seriously doesn’t work out) Five Star will be updating on FRIDAYS!

Settling In
I feel like I’m finally settling in here on the new site…it really is a vast improvement to the old one, there are so many new options! I’m in the process of re-naming the pages and uploading lots of extra content (mostly things I’ve had for ages but didn’t have a place to archive on the old site). There’s an art gallery up now which I’m still learning the tricks of, and maybe I’ll put up some of the world-building info I’ve worked on if anyone’s interested. Hell, I’ll probably still put it up even if you’re not.
