*Lies, all lies!
But yes, I never hung posters above my bed when I was a kid… anyone else freak themselves out doing so??
UPDATE: OOOOPS! I totally went and deleted most of the reader comments for this entry D: I thought it was the same as with deviantart where the comment is approved but you can delete it from your updater list to clean up your admin page. Damn, sorry guys, still getting used to the new wordpress formatting. But I read and appreciated every one so thanks for posting!

No… you haven’t lived until you’ve drawn a life-sized poster of Darth Nihl, paid almost $100 to have it printed at a copy shop at full size, hung it over you bed, and just about given your boyfriend (who sleeps in the same bed) a concussion from jumping out of bed in the morning because of said poster.
PS Yes, this is a comment quite a few months too late.
Heh, I’ve done that before. XD
It was at my grandma’s though. She had a picture of Jesus with a lamb and a sheperd’s staff on the wall across from the bed, and with the little nightlight she always has on, it looked like his eyes were staring straight into me. ^.^
Dude my brother had a poster of darth maul on his wall so when i got his room after he moved I was treated with GIANT glowing red eyes every freaking morning.
Not a poster, but for an art project we had to make life-size portraits of ourselves in High School. Mom had a disturbing habit of putting it opposite of a mirror, so when you looked into it you saw THIS FACE peeking over your shoulder O_O
I’ve never freaked myself out with the posters in my room, mainly because I don’t really have any. But I did go to a slumber party at my friend’s house only to discover her room was basically wallpapered with Jonas Brothers posters, magazine covers, ect. I kept waking up during the night and freaking out because in my half awake state I thought the posters were staring at me.
Y’know, in that second last one there, Hes looks a lot like Hermione..
they were once the only thing people spoke about at my school even the boys liked it then i got sick of it after a while and buren a poster with a picture of the jonas on it
I had to sleep in my grandmother’s doll room once, the moonlight coming through the window softly illuminated all their faces. Each side had a leader, on one was the vintage Elvis doll, and on the other was the just as vintage Erkel doll. I didn’t sleep well that night.
This is seriously my favorite comic. It was the first one my sister showed me because we’re a lot like you and Hes. She’s an art student and I’m…..well….the little sister of an artist, trying to live up to her. She teases me all the time and we bust each others chops. Truthfully, she’s my best friend and I kinda miss her now. Good Luck with your comic and thanks for this one~!
Wow, I absolutely LOVE the fourth panel!
The whole strip’s really well done!
Way late to the party, but when I was a wee lad, I hung a huge poster of the Gundam Wing Zero above my bed. It was basically the greatest thing ever.
…until a couple of nights later, when I realised that the green used for its eyes apparently caught any and all tiny molecules of light that happened to be in the room and reflected them back at me, effectively glowing in the dark.
Staring at me.
It came down.
Well… I have this big ol’ poster of Aragorn in my room. At the time that I got it I was in love with the man so I decided to put it on the ceiling above my bed. After that I lay down to gaze upon his wonderfulness, and it was only then when I noticed the FREAKY-A PIERCING STARE! It didn’t stay there for long.
Also, my friend had a giant cardboard standup of Zac Efron, and one day I was at her house and I walked into her room to see a man standing right beside me in my peripheral. I screamed and fell over….
Ha! He and Roadblock could have a staring contest!
Last semester I bought an Edward Cullen poster as a joke and put it up across from my bed. And a couple of days later I woke up in the night and saw A MAN IN MY BEDROOM!
I’m surprised my older sister hasn’t done this to me yet…D:
Yeah, the poster over the bed thing can get kinda creepy. Last year my roommate had a poster of Edward Cullen on the ceiling and I felt like he was ALWAYS staring at me lol.
I have a huge Dobby poster (from Harry Potter, yes. Not because I have a crush on Dobby or anything, I’d much prefer a Rupert Grint poster, but… I just happen to have it) hanging at the foot of my bed. Never scared me, though. But I guess Dobby isn’t half as scary as the Jonas Brothers.
Besides, who could look at his huge eyes and not go ‘Aaaaaawwww’?
Also, great comic. And almost 100! Omfg.
Well done Hes for avoiding that whole sparkly annoying cheesy world that popular pop has become. When we were staying at a friends house in Edinburgh in the room I was sleeping in he had all these slipknot and gothic emo band posters I spent the whole night thinking “dont look you cant see them they cant see you. brilliant expressions
I could’ve sworn I made a comment…. oh well.
IS. THAT. A. MOKONA. DOLL!?
*le gasp!* Is Hes a TRC fan!?!?
Can’t wait for Shrub Monkey’s 100!!!
mokona also comes from rayearth. but yes TRC is an awesome series
hahaha amen.
Well, what would our places as big sisters be, if we didn’t do that every now and then ;D
I used to work at movie theaters, I had GIANT swag. George of Jungle vinyl banner was hanging across my widow. Image the heart attack my friends had when the morning rays showed Brenden Fraiser in a loincloth peering in at them. ^_^* I giggled so hard.
Back when Lord of the Rings first came out, my sister had a life-size cut-out of Orlando Bloom as Legolas. I can see into her room while walking to mine, so that thing made us both jump a number of times before she finally stuffed it in her closet. XD
….i have always found that jonas guy scary.
not the ‘monster under your bed that says -i want to eet yew-’ scary but more of the ‘retarded lap dog who will pee on your new jeans’ scary.
either way, i fear for the health of those who find him ‘hawt’ or ’smexeh’
HA! Brilliant and you know i had a similar incident but with a bookcover. My boyfriend had a copy of Chuck Paulanick (sp?)’s Haunted. Well the face on the cover is a bit like that famous painting “the scream”, only close up. Anyway it looked like a very mundane light purple cover…that was until i got up at 3 in the morning to get a glass of water and scared the CRAP out of myself. The damn thing glows in the dark!! I had this haunting face staring up at me as if to say… BUUUWAAAA HAAAA DIEEEEE!!!! I actually yelped, waking my boyfriend and the dog lol. Neither were pleased. After he put his glasses on, he looked down and shurgged “Yeah that is freaky”… as if it were nothing. However, once i got back upstairs with my water i noticed that the book had been shoved under the bed lol!!
Ooooh yes, I’ve read that one. The glow in the dark cover IS pretty unsettling :/
This comic rules. You draw the best facial expressions ever. If only i had the talent to draw this well. Keep it up, this is tied for my favorite comic of all time.
I was totally the same way with pop culture when I was her age
And I know I definitely would have been less than amused by your antics if I were her BUT! It’s pretty gosh darn funny. A little bit of teen angst isn’t going to kill you!
I did with a Marilyn Manson poster (a close-up of his face, of cooourse.)
But when it fell on me in the middle on the night, let’s say it quickly made me learn a lesson.
jonas brothers would be very scary. i couldnt reach the ceiling when i’d watching posters up there. ;-; now i dont really care for them up there at all. >w<; edward cullen sounds just as scary. as would many other things. miley cyrus//hannah montana would be freaky…
Comic #99… Ahh, are you going to do something special for the 100th comic?! Also: I’ve had a Resident Evil poster (none of the main characters, just zombies) on my ceiling before and it didn’t phase me. But I think waking up to one of the Jonas Brother, Edward Cullen, etc. would scare the mess out of me. Isn’t that sad?
I like the serious look of the poster in the last panel, that’s hysterical xD.
Jonas Brothers…. tee hee
I gotta say, while nothing about this specific comic sticks out (not to say it’s bad, and I am definitely a fan), you use the blue scale unusually really awesomely. It’s so fitting to the comic/your style… it’ just… right.
Ha not only is that TERRIFYING to have happen to you, but the sister of my friend’s boyfriend is dating one of the Jonas brothers. Thought you’d find that connection mildly amusing.
Also, when I was younger, I had a Lance Bass poster above my head. It fell on top of me one night and I woke up screaming haha.
That’s fantastic! I had a Lord of the Rings poster I had up by my bed for exactly one day…and then freaked out when I woke up and saw Gollum staring at me. Yeesh…
Also, I know you’ve probably been asked this five billion times, but is Hes short for anything? I asks because I actually have a cousin named Hestia who goes by Hes.
it has been such a crappy day, I have been CRAVING for something to make me crack a smile! Then you come along with this priceless jem and I can’t stop laughing. Thank you so much, I love the days you update.
Try waking up to a surprise Edward Cullen stand-up wearing a cowboy had and garter belt. :*( I feel your pain.
I had to stay the night at a family friend’s house, and slept in their 14-year-old-daughter’s room. There were JoBros on the ceiling. A giant Edward Cullen at the foot of the bed (WITH GLITTER ON HIS EYES.).
Its like the disney channel ate a pink cake and puked it up over the walls of the room. Very difficult to get to sleep. D:
Oh, god. A giant Edward Cullen D: That’d give me nightmares for days!
